Information we collect

BuildMeATeam collects the information you provide to create and use a profile, including your name, country, city, zipcode or postal code, category, profile photo, LinkedIn or public profile URL, bio, age band source year, availability, preferences, match details, reports, blocks, connection requests, messages, and notification settings. You must be at least 18 to use BuildMeATeam, and birth year is used to help enforce that minimum age and display broad age bands where relevant.

How we use it

We use your information to create your profile, calculate eligible matches, prevent people from browsing profiles unless there is a match, deliver connection requests and messages, send match alerts when enabled, support safety features, operate moderation, enforce country-based communication rules, prevent spam or abuse, and improve the service.

What other users see

Other signed-in users can only see your profile when the app determines there is an eligible match or an existing connection. BuildMeATeam currently limits matching and communication to users in the same country, with a United States/Canada exception. Some sensitive fields, such as budgets, asks, and private materials, are hidden until a connection is accepted.

Service providers

We use service providers to host the app, store data, authenticate users, store profile photos, and send email. These providers process information only as needed to operate BuildMeATeam.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, disable match email alerts, block users, download your account data, or request account deletion from the My Data page. Deleting your account removes your profile and data linked to your account through database cascades.

Deleting your information

To delete your account information, sign in and go to the My Data page. Use the delete account control there; you may be asked to type DELETE to confirm. After confirmation, BuildMeATeam deletes your login account and profile-linked data, including profile details, search cards, connection records, messages, blocks, reports you created, and match email alerts.

If you cannot sign in or need help deleting information connected to a social login, contact us through website support and include the email address you used for your account. We may need to verify that you control the account before deleting or exporting information.

Donations

Donations help support the running costs of BuildMeATeam. Donors do not receive private profile data, access to specific profiles, private matching intent, or the ability to browse private user data.
